Here is what I know about the Control4 (C4) checking list:
(Currently, Control4 Project Term define AS-IS)
Troubleshooting
- Video Encoding. Based on the Hardware limitation. Currently, Control4 works with H.264. H.265 may or may not works in the future if there is an upgrade from the C4 hardware. Don’t use Zip+ encoding. (Otherwise, you may get no image or green image)
- Login Security Authentication: DVR/NVR uses digest/ Basic. With the latest driver, it does support digest. But for more compatibility, still recommend using the Basic. In the C4 setting don’t change the authentication mode, leave it to default or if you for sure.
- Port#, recommend using the default number. DVR/NVR 80 8554 IPC/PTZ 80 554
- Make sure PTCloud Encryption is disabled. (Otherwise, you may get the green bar video)
- Currently, C4 video only supports substream only. Bitrate control to 512 max. Because EA driver won’t able to handle more.
- There are three different drivers: IPC, DVR/NVR, PTZ.
Must match the driver for each connection. http://www.ltsecurityinc.com/control4compat
Hardware - EA Controller supports H.264 only (no MJPEG). HC Controller is phase out support MJPEG (no H.264; aka won’t fully support any LTS DVR/NVR)
- TouchPanel mostly supports MJPEG only (depends; some I heard it support H.264). This is the very tricky part. You have to directly add IPC to the Touch Panel instead. IPC must enable substream to MJPEG and the Storage calendar section > Capture calendar;
change Snapshot Stream type to the Substream. (Note: However, once you enable MJPEG, your local DVR/NVR screen goes blank if you switch to multiple windows.)
PTZ
- You need to use PTZ C4 driver for the PTZ. You can use the SR260 to control it.
However, I barely remember something about H.264; or maybe no preset issue (can’t remember anymore)
Audio Matrix for TV / Multi-Room - No, it is not support. Video only can Directly point to one Controller
Direct Control MENU / Playback - No, we don’t support that. Hik support it but only works with the Hik DVR/NVR, not for the LTS DVR model. But, as far as I know; their driver version is also limited to the live video-only.
I think this is also similar related to the Matrix driver. So far, the only solution is to create an IR receiver and program as a non-network dvd player controller way to connect it.
DVR/NVR IR Remote Controller Freq Code
It is posted in the KB already (Agent Only).
Controller/TouchPanel Thumbnail
As far as I know, it is not supported. So, you won’t able to see the moving picture in the thumbnail section. You must make sure the Snapshot Encoding is working.
Software
Control4 hardware firmware and Composer software version must be matched.
For example, if your C4 flash to 2.9 version, then you cannot use a different composer version to open it. I heard 2.10.2 is much better than 2.10.1 (more crash). 2.10 got a major tune-up to compare from before.
================================================================
C4 Driver Note:
v1.1 20191003
PTCloud Encryption requires Disabled.
Driver support Video Link only. No Audio/Notification Linkage.
Improvement / Changes:
====================================================================
- Support Digest authentication
- Increase CH# support up to 32CH.
- Property Panel is simplified. Remove all not effect settings.
- Driver 3-in-1 (NVR/DVR/IPC) auto-identify the driver type
- Third Stream is supported (if your device is supported) and
- C4 driver can auto-identify the IP Camera and set to CAMERA_FIXED.
- When it defined as CAMERA_FIXED, the channel# field will be locked.
- Snapshot URL command has been modified. When you have tablet C4,
- you need to watch out this section. NVR/DVR and IPC command are different.
NVR/DVR requires to verify the ONVIF user account existing before use it.
IPC still using the same commend how it works.
NVR/DVR uses ONVIF and IPC uses the older ISAPI method.
- IP Camera MJPEG driver has been disabled.
