Why Do I Need The Router's IP?
Port forwarding can only be done on the router itself since it manages your network traffic. If you do not open the ports on your router, your remote access will not work. This applies to all things regardless of the device you use.
Finding the IP: Windows
1) Start Bar Method
Step 1. Select your windows icon or windows star bar icon on your desktop.
Step 2. Type "CMD" in the search bar of your start bar.
Step 3. Select command prompt
Step 4. Type "ipconfig" into command prompt and then press enter.
Step 5. The IP address of your router is found under the Default Gateway.

2) Run method
Step 1. On your keyboard, press the "Windows" Key and "R" together to bring up "Run". Alternatively, you can search for "Run" as shown in the start bar menu.
Step 2. Type in "cmd" and then press "ok."
Step 3. Type "ipconfig" into command prompt and then press enter.
Step 4. The IP address of your router is found under the Default Gateway.
Finding the IP: Mac
Step 1. Select your apple icon.
Step 2. Select "System Preferences"
Step 3. Select "Network"
Step 4. You should now see the router IP address.
